Treat Tuesday-Cinnamon Rolls

It’s Turkey week! That means you need something that you can make ahead for Thanksgiving morning. These Cinnamon Rolls are the perfect treat that will wow your guests. There are several steps but the outcome is so worth it!!

Start with mixing together one cup flour, granulated sugar, and active dry yeast. Then melt one stick of butter in a small pan with milk.

Once the butter is melted, slowly add it to the flour mixture and beat for two minutes until it thickens slightly.

Add in the eggs and vanilla and then the rest of the flour until the dough begins to stick to the beater.

Put the dough out onto a floured pastry sheet. Knead it for 10 minutes (yes, really it makes a difference!).

Then put the dough in a buttered bowl.

Place in the oven with the light on for one hour to let it rise, then punch it down.

Back onto the floured pastry sheet, roll the dough into a rectangle.

Now it’s time for the best part of a cinnamon roll, the cinnamon sugar center! Mix brown sugar and cinnamon together.

Brush butter onto the dough rectangle.

Then sprinkle the cinnamon sugar over the entire surface of the dough.

Carefully roll the dough into a long cylinder.

Cut the dough into 12 rolls and place in a baking dish. The dough rolls will rise in the oven for one more hour and then you bake them for about 20 minutes until golden brown.

Finally make the icing by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla together and gently pour over the rolls. Perfect parade watching sweet!

Happy Thanksgiving!!
