Treat Tuesday- Nutmeg Feather Cake

If you are ready for some fall flavors but the weather might not quite have let go of summer in your area, this recipe will add the wonderful aroma of fall spices to your kitchen. Nutmeg Feather Cake is a vintage recipe from my mom’s copy of Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook. This cake is similar to a Pound Cake but with the delicious addition of fresh grated nutmeg.

If you don’t already own a nutmeg grinder, put that on your fall kitchen gadget must have list. A friend gave me one and I only buy nutmeg pods now and grate my own for the freshest flavor in baked treats.

Buttermilk is the other key ingredient to ensure this cake is super moist and flavorful.

The batter mixes quickly in an electric mixer and bakes up in a 13″ x 9″ pan.

Enjoy it warm from the oven, or add the tail end of summer strawberries and some fresh whipped cream.
