Treat Tuesday-Chocolate Sheet Cake

This is the recipe you need if you are having company over and need a cut and serve cake that is wonderfully rich and chocolatey!!

Start with melting butter and cocoa together to get your first layer of chocolate flavor. Then add 1 cup of boiling water.

Once the chocolate cools, add it to the flour, sugar, and salt. You can see the batter become shiny as it blends (and it tastes delicious at this stage!)

Finally, blend in with buttermilk, eggs, vanilla, and baking soda. Once the batter is completely smooth, pour it into a jelly roll pan and bake for 20 minutes.

The cake rises ever so slightly, giving it a nice, light texture.

Now for the literal icing on the cake! Melt butter and cocoa, then add milk and vanilla. Finally whisk in powdered sugar until smooth. Pour the icing evenly over the cake as soon as it comes out of the oven.

Let cool completely and cut into squares.
