Treat Tuesday-Chocolate Fondue

Seems as if we have been going back in time lately. Exercising in the neighborhood vs. hitting the gym. Puzzles and board games have made a resurgence. We have been eating at home instead of eating out. While on a recent cleaning binge, I came across my Fondue Pot. Why in the world don’t we have Fondue more often??? It’s one of the easiest desserts you can make!

I’m pretty sure I have had this pot for 28 years…it was a wedding present!

Start with chocolate chips. This recipe calls for semi-sweet but I used a combination of those and bittersweet.

Add in some heavy cream.

Sprinkle in some instant espresso and mix well.

I could not find any cans of Sterno, the canned heat that works the Fondue Pot, in my home and it was a little challenging to find the small cans. I had to settle for these 6oz. ones that really put off a lot of heat so we had to be careful not to burn the chocolate. (If you want a giggle, ask a young employee at Target where the Sterno is…)

The chocolate will melt quickly into a perfect dipping consistency.

After everything is melted, whisk in some Kahu’la. Any coffee flavored liqueur would work, even Grand Marnier or a splash of Baileys.

There are so many things you can dip into the Chocolate Fondue. Choose your favorite fruits, cookies, even cubes of pound cake.

It’s so much fun to eat food on a stick.
