Treat Tuesday-Apple-Cream Cheese Bundt Cake
So I know what you are thinking…it is too blooming hot in most parts of the country to turn on the oven to bake a cake. But stay with me. What if you turned on the oven and spices and apples starting wafting towards you invoking thoughts of cool breezes, autumn leaves, and the gridiron? I got you now…we are in the doldrums of sports season and just the thought of a scrimmage gets people giddy with excitement. So that is the purpose of this cake…cooling fall-like thoughts as we enjoy the last part of summer.
So let me breakdown this masterpiece for you. First you make the cream cheese filling. While cream cheese is great as a frosting, I think it is even more fantastic as a filling!
Next up is a moist, spicy batter with apples folded in (great way to get your apple-a-day…)
Now begin layering the flavors. First the batter.
Then the cream cheese filling, topped by more batter.
A caramel-like frosting and “presto, whamo” you can’t wait to dig out your autumn wreath!
