Wine of the Week-Fortress Cabernet Sauvignon

Since winter seems to be knocking on the door, the time seems right for some hearty red wines.  This 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon caught my eye because the store sign described it as “Dark Fruit, Soft Tannins”.

This is a nice, bold red that is super smooth and was excellent with pork tenderloin and butternut squash.  Fortress is from Sonoma County, but more specifically Santa Rosa where both sets of my grandparents lived when I would visit during the holidays and summers.

This is a beautiful wine from a beautiful part of the country.
