Treat Tuesday-Pear Gingerbread
If you need something new to serve Thanksgiving morning, this delicious gingerbread is for your table! Since you are already up early putting the Turkey in the oven, you can then whip this bread together and bake it before any of your houseguests have woken up. This recipe has a few steps, but the flavor is well worth a little of your time on this crazy kitchen day!
Start with a firm pear. This is pear season and you can get so many good ones during the holidays. I used a Bartlett pear for this bread. Dice it up and set aside.
Mix together flour, baking soda and spices. The amount and type of spices this recipe calls for help make this fantastic bread quite possibly the perfect gingerbread!
Next warm the molasses and corn syrup in one pan and dissolve the brown sugar and milk in another.
Beat the milk into the crumbly flour mixture and then add the molasses and the egg. This will be a very liquid batter, but don’t worry, it will bake into the most amazing breakfast loaf. Top with the pear pieces that will slowly sink as the bread bakes.
Your guests will wake to the smell of gingerbread!
Once it cools, slice it thickly and serve with mimosas!!
