Treat Tuesday-Dutch Apple Pie Bars

When the calendar turns to September, I am ready to bake with apples, cinnamon, and butter! These Dutch Apple Pie Bars taste just like apple pie and the smell from the oven is guaranteed to get you excited for fall colors and cooler temperatures.

Start with flour, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg, then cut in butter.

Using a pastry cutter, blend until the mixture is crumbly.

Next drizzle in an egg and some water to get the dough to come together.

Roll the dough into a rectangle and place in the pan to bake until golden brown.

While the crust bakes, mix together the filling with flour, sugar, and cinnamon.

Add in diced Granny Smith apples.

Stir to combine with the flour mixture.

Remove the crust from the oven.

Add the apple filling on top of the crust.

Finally, make the topping by mixing flour, sugar, and cinnamon.

Add in melted butter and vanilla.

Stir with a fork until crumbly.

Sprinkle the topping over the apples.

Bake until golden brown and bubbly. Cut into bars once cool and enjoy alone or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
PSL can’t even compete with these!
