Treat Tuesday-Chocolate Chip Shortbread

IMG_0357I love shortbread.  So when I came across this recipe that added chocolate chips to this treat, I had to try it.  This may be one of my new favorite desserts!

IMG_0342It is also a snap to make.  To maintain the shortbread texture and not have huge chocolate chips sticking up through it (not that that would be a bad thing), you grind them up in the food processor with some flour so that they become tiny chocolate bits.

IMG_0343Beware, chopping up chocolate chips is quite loud…but then you end up with the perfect taste of chocolate in each bite of shortbread.

IMG_0344The dough comes together in the mixer super quick and makes enough for two pans.

IMG_0347Using your hands, you simply flatten the dough out to the sides of the pan that has been lightly buttered.

IMG_0350After about 40 minutes your kitchen will smell amazing.  Let the pans cool slightly and turn out the shortbread onto a cutting board.

IMG_0353While the bread is still warm, cut into wedges and then let cool completely on a wire rack.

IMG_0355Warning, this is a dangerous, highly addictive treat.

The best kind.
