Treat Tuesday-Applesauce Bourbon Cake
As we head into fall, I am drawn to apples and spice. This cake meets both of those cravings with a splash of bourbon thrown in!! This is an easy recipe that generates a nice moist cake that isn’t too big in size but full of fall flavors.
Start by buttering your pan, add a round of parchment paper, and butter and flour that as well to insure your cake will pop out perfectly after you bake it.
Cream the butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
Mix together the flour, baking soda, and spices (fall reminder to check all the expiration dates on your spices before you are in the full swing of baking season!)
Then slowly add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, blending just until combined.
Stir in the applesauce.
Add the bourbon. Add a splash more if you really love the bourbon flavor!
Finally, pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top evenly with a spatula.
Bake until a wooden pick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let cool for 30 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely before frosting.
To make the frosting, blend the cream cheese, butter, vanilla, and bourbon, then add in the confectioner’s sugar.
Spread the frosting on the top of the cake.
Quite possibly a perfect dessert!
