Streusel Coffee Cake
This is a delicious cake that is perfect for Thanksgiving morning, or anytime you have company over and want something that will feed a crowd.Plan Ahead Note: the butter and cream cheese need to be softened to room temperature.
Ingredients
- ½ cup unsalted butter softened
- 1 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese softened
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup butter cold and cut into cubes
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Beat butter and cream cheese at medium speed of an electric mixer until creamy.
- Gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating just until the yellow disappears.
- Stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add alternately with milk, ending with flour mixture, beating at low speed just until blended. Stir in vanilla.
- Pour batter into a greased 13" x 9" pan.
- Combine remaining flour and sugar in a bowl. Cut in ¼ cup butter. Sprinkle over the top of the cake.
- Bake at 350° for 35-40 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool for 20 minutes before serving.
