Streusel Coffee Cake

This is a delicious cake that is perfect for Thanksgiving morning, or anytime you have company over and want something that will feed a crowd.
Plan Ahead Note: the butter and cream cheese need to be softened to room temperature.

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup butter cold and cut into cubes

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Beat butter and cream cheese at medium speed of an electric mixer until creamy.         
  • Gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed until light and fluffy.  
  • Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating just until the yellow disappears.
  • Stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add alternately with milk, ending with flour mixture, beating at low speed just until blended.  Stir in vanilla.
  •  Pour batter into a greased 13" x 9" pan.
  • Combine remaining flour and sugar in a bowl.  Cut in ¼ cup butter.  Sprinkle over the top of the cake.
  • Bake at 350° for 35-40 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted into the center comes out clean.  Let cool for 20 minutes before serving.
