Cheddar-Bacon Biscuits
These are super easy and make a great Thanksgiving morning treat with a fruit salad. Serve with honey butter.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 Tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
- ⅓ cup shortening cut into pieces and chilled
- ½ cup milk
- 4 strips bacon cooked and cut into small pieces
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°.
- Pulse the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar 4 or 5 times until ingredients are thoroughly combined.
- Add shredded cheese and shortening and pulse 4 or 5 times until mixture is crumbly.
- With the processor running, gradually add milk, and process until dough forms a ball and leave the sides of the bowl.
- Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface; shape into a ball. Fold in the bacon pieces.
- Pat or roll dough to 3/4" thickness. Cut into 4" circles and place on a baking sheet.
- Bake at 425° for 10 minutes or until golden. Let cool on pan for 3 minutes. Serve warm.
