Cheddar-Bacon Biscuits

These are super easy and make a great Thanksgiving morning treat with a fruit salad. Serve with honey butter.

Servings 12 biscuits

Ingredients
  

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • cup shortening cut into pieces and chilled
  • ½ cup milk
  • 4 strips bacon cooked and cut into small pieces

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 425°.        
  • Pulse the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar 4 or 5 times until ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  • Add shredded cheese and shortening and pulse 4 or 5 times until mixture is crumbly.
  • With the processor running, gradually add milk, and process until dough forms a ball and leave the sides of the bowl.
  • Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface; shape into a ball.  Fold in the bacon pieces.
  • Pat or roll dough to 3/4" thickness.  Cut into 4" circles and place on a baking sheet.
  • Bake at 425° for 10 minutes or until golden. Let cool on pan for 3 minutes. Serve warm.
