Treat Tuesday-Skillet Apple Crisp

Apples mixed with brown sugar and cinnamon, a nice crispy crumble topping, and a big scoop of vanilla ice cream…hello fall flavors! This is an easy Apple Crisp that bakes in a cast iron skillet, not to mention how good your kitchen is going to smell once you pop this out of the oven.

Start by making the streusel topping. Flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and freshly ground nutmeg are whisked together.

Next add in cubed, chilled butter and mix it with a pastry blender.

Cut the butter until you have small pieces that will be sprinkled on the top of the apples.

Then peel and slice five granny smith apples.

Melt butter in the cast iron skillet.

Add the sliced apples.

Then add brown sugar and cornstarch, along with a big tablespoon of vanilla.

Heat just until the mixture begins to thicken, then remove from the heat.

Finally, sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples.

Bake until golden brown and bubbly around the edges.
