Treat Tuesday-Brown Butter Banana Bread
Think Bananas Foster meets bread…without the flambé. It’s really that good! I had overripe bananas sitting on my counter for days and it was time to put them to good use. I did not want to make my traditional banana bread, so I found this version which is easy but elevates your basic breakfast treat.
Start with very ripe bananas. I can’t overstate this enough. They need to be super spotted to yield a nice, sweet bread.
To brown the butter, it is as simple as putting it in a saucepan on the stove and whisking until little brown flecks appear on the bottom of the pan. Remove from heat, stir a little more and you now have the magic sauce that is brown butter.
Pour the butter over brown sugar and you can begin to smell the scent of caramel!!
Next, mash your bananas with a fork. This will be easy because your bananas are super ripe and soft. Add the bananas to the caramel mixture along with eggs and vanilla.
Next whisk together flour, baking soda, and cinnamon.
Add to the banana mixture and pour into a loaf pan.
It will bake for about an hour and make your kitchen smell fantastic!
