Wine of the Week-Thanksgiving Wines

With the big day upon us, I wanted to share my pairings for this holiday.  Keep in mind, I am not a sommelier  but I know what I like and I trust the wine department in my gourmet grocery store to steer me in the right direction!
First up is this Tangley Oaks Cabernet Sauvignon to pair with the chili that I will be making for dinner on Wednesday night.  It is slightly spicy and fruity, the perfect tang that matches the meal.  This bottle is a 2015 cab from California that will start off your Thanksgiving eve (yes, that’s a thing) on the right note.

Thanksgiving morning must start with Mimosas!  I like this JP. Chenet Sparkling wine to mix with fresh squeezed orange juice or a really good bottled OJ.  This is a French wine that is quite reasonable and adds the perfect sparkle to your morning cocktail.

Finally, you need a wine that won’t overwhelm the main star of the day, the Turkey.  My favorite store recommended this Dopp Creek Pinot Noir.  While Pinot Noir is not my most favorite red wine, I do like a lighter bottle to pair with Turkey.  This Oregon wine is from Colene Clemens Vineyards and it is a great fruit forward wine without being watery.  It is the perfect bottle to serve with your bird.
