Treat Tuesday-Chocolate Velvet Cupcakes

Happy Valentine’s Day!  Next to Christmas, I think this is the best “holiday” to have fun in the kitchen.  If you are needing a sweet treat today, this is a wonderfully light, fluffy cupcake with a decadent browned butter, cream cheese frosting.

Start with melting a bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips.

While those cool, blend together butter and browned sugar and eggs.

Add in the cooled chocolate and flour mixture for a light and airy batter.

Spoon into prepared muffin tins.  This batter is the consistency of chocolate mousse and it is worth sampling off the spatula!

Bake for about 20 minutes and let cool while you prepare the frosting.

Start with browning butter.  This step takes the frosting to a whole other level of flavor!  Let the butter cool once browned.

Add cream cheese, powdered sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla.

Now you are ready to decorate!
