Scalloped Potatoes

This recipe is quite decadent…use it when you are making a fancy steak and need an easy side dish that tastes like you spent hours over the stove.

Course: Side Dish

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • 2 lb. Yukon gold potatoes peeled and sliced very thin
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 ½ cups half and half
  • ½ cup heavy cream

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 325°.
  2. Rub 1 Tablespoon of butter on the bottom of a 2 quart baking dish.        
  3. Overlap potatoes in three layers, sprinkling each layer with a little salt.
  4. Pour the half and half over the potatoes, just enough to cover them and dot with remaining butter.
  5. Bake at 325° for 45 minutes.
  6. Spoon the heavy cream carefully over the top layer of potatoes and continue baking for another 45 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
