Treat Tuesday-Sugar & Spice Drops
I’m still into spices. I can’t help it. I want to wear a scarf and tall boots, but that is just not going to happen when the thermometer continues to hover over 80 degrees. Pumpkins are in every grocery store, but I am forcing myself to wait until the first of October to go there, so I am sticking with the smell of cinnamon and ginger (and molasses, and cloves, and nutmeg…) in my kitchen.
There is no excuse why you can’t make these today. It’s a throw together type of cookie and the dough has this wonderful deep, rich color.
Once the cookies are formed into balls, they get rolled into powdered sugar. Don’t they remind you of sugar plums? (what?? I know you have seen the Christmas merchandise in the stores…)
Taking a fork dipped in sugar, a simple crisscross is made on top of each treat.
Now for the best part, the wonderful spice aroma wafting from your oven. I know, I say that a lot, but really doesn’t it just take the edge off your day to walk in the door and smell cookies?
