Gingerbread 2

I have a few favorite Gingerbread recipes.  I love this one because of all the spices!
Plan Ahead Note: the butter needs to be softened to room temperature.

Ingredients
  

  • cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter softened
  • cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
  • teaspoon salt
  • teaspoon ground cloves
  • cup milk

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Beat granulated sugar and butter at medium speed of an electric mixer for 5 minutes.  
  3. Add molasses and egg, beating well.
  4. Combine flour, ginger, baking soda, nutmeg, salt, and cloves in a bowl. Add alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.  
  5. Pour into an 8" greased square baking dish.  Bake at 350° for 30-35 minutes.  Cool.
