S’Mores Bars
Great for a crowd but they won't last long, they are highly addictive!
Ingredients
- 4 cups rolled oats
- 4 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- ¼ cup water
- ½ cup light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups miniature marshmallows
- 1 ½ cups dark chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°.
- Lightly grease a half-sheet (18" x 13") pan. Place the oats on the prepared pan.
- Bake for 6-8 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent the edges from burning. They won't brown but they will begin to smell toasty.
- Remove the pan from the oven. Transfer the oats to a bowl and add the cereal.
- In a large saucepan, combine the sugar, butter, water, corn syrup, and salt. Bring the mixture to a boil and boil for 5 minutes.
- Remove the syrup from the heat and pour it over the oats and cereal, tossing to combine.
- Add 1 ½ cups of the marshmallows and stir again until well combined.
- Lightly grease the half-sheet pan again and place the mixture in the pan, pressing it until it is flat and even.
- Sprinkle with the remaining marshmallows and the chocolate chips.
- Bake the bars for 4-5 minutes, until the marshmallows have puffed and are slightly brown.
- Remove the bars from the oven and cool for about 10 minutes on a wire rack, longer if you want the chocolate to set up slightly. Cut into squares.
