S’mores Bars

S’Mores Bars

Great for a crowd but they won't last long, they are highly addictive!

Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups rolled oats
  • 4 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup water
  • ½ cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups miniature marshmallows
  • 1 ½ cups dark chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 425°.
  • Lightly grease a half-sheet (18" x 13") pan. Place the oats on the prepared pan.
  • Bake for 6-8 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent the edges from burning. They won't brown but they will begin to smell toasty.
  • Remove the pan from the oven. Transfer the oats to a bowl and add the cereal.
  • In a large saucepan, combine the sugar, butter, water, corn syrup, and salt. Bring the mixture to a boil and boil for 5 minutes.
  • Remove the syrup from the heat and pour it over the oats and cereal, tossing to combine.
  • Add 1 ½ cups of the marshmallows and stir again until well combined.
  • Lightly grease the half-sheet pan again and place the mixture in the pan, pressing it until it is flat and even.
  • Sprinkle with the remaining marshmallows and the chocolate chips.
  • Bake the bars for 4-5 minutes, until the marshmallows have puffed and are slightly brown.
  • Remove the bars from the oven and cool for about 10 minutes on a wire rack, longer if you want the chocolate to set up slightly. Cut into squares.
