Oreo Balls
These are dangerous, very very dangerous. You can't eat just one, it's impossible! Be sure to add the shortening to the chocolate to make dipping easier.Plan Ahead Note: the cream cheese needs to be softened to room temperature and the dough will need to chill for two hours.
Ingredients
- 2 pkgs. regular Oreo cookies
- 2 pkgs. cream cheese softened
- 2 pkgs. semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate chips
- 4 Tablespoons shortening
Instructions
- Place cookies in a food processor with blade attachment and process until cookies resemble fine crumbs.
- In a large bowl of an electric mixer, add cream cheese and mix until light and fluffy.
- Add the cookie crumbs and mix until well combined.
- Chill the dough for two hours.
- Using a teaspoon or a cookie scoop, roll the dough into balls and place on a cookie sheet covered with wax paper.
- In a double boiler, over medium heat, add one package of chocolate chips and 2 Tablespoons of shortening.
- Melt completely and remove from heat.
- Using two spoons, dip each ball completely in chocolate.
- Drop onto a cookie sheet covered with wax paper and chill.
- When you run out of dipping chocolate, repeat the melting stage with the other package of chocolate chips and remaining 2 Tablespoons of shortening.
