Chocolate Cinnamon Cake

This is a perfect quick cake for snacks or a weeknight dessert.

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • cup unsweetened cocoa sifted
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 Tablespoons butter melted and cooled
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract


  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Combine flour, baking powder, soda, salt, sugar, cocoa, and cinnamon in a large bowl.
  • In a small bowl whisk together the buttermilk, eggs, butter, and vanilla.
  • Slowly add the buttermilk mixture to the flour mixture, stirring until just combined.
  • Pour the batter into a greased 8" square baking pan and bake for 30 minutes or until wooden pick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cool completely before serving.
