Mom’s Snickerdoodles
This is it. The perfect Snickerdoodle recipe. It is wonderfully buttery dough rolled in cinnamon sugar. You simply don't need any other ingredients.Plan Ahead Note: the butter and egg needs to be brought to room temperature.
Ingredients
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ¾ cup unsalted butter softened to room temperature
- ¼ cup shortening
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 2 eggs at room temperature
- 3 Tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 Tablespoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°.
- Mix together the flour, cream of tartar, and baking soda.
- In the bowl of an electric mixer combine the butter, shortening, and sugar. Beat for 2 minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time beating well after each addition.
- Spoon in the flour mixture, beating just until combined.
- Gently roll the cookies into balls.
- Mix together the cinnamon and sugar.
- Roll balls in the cinnamon sugar and place on a cookie sheet covered in parchment paper or a silicone mat.
- Bake at 400° for 9 minutes. Let cool for 3 minutes on pan and then move to a wire rack to cool completely.
