Apple Cake with Caramel Sauce
This is an easy cake that can feed a lot of people. The caramel sauce takes the flavors to the next level!

Ingredients
Apple Cake

cup
butter
softened to room temperature

cups
granulated sugar
2
eggs
2
cups
all-purpose flour
2
teaspoons
ground cinnamon
2
teaspoons
baking soda
½
teaspoon
ground nutmeg
½
teaspoon
salt
4
cups
peeled, chopped Granny Smith apples
1
teaspoon
vanilla extract
Caramel Sauce
¾
cup
butter
¾
cup
granulated sugar
¾
cup
packed brown sugar
¾
cup
heavy cream
Instructions
Apple Cake
Preheat oven to 350°. Grease a 13" x 9" pan.
Cream butter and sugar in a large bowl.
Beat in eggs one at a time.
Sift together dry ingredients and add to egg mixture alternately with apples.
Stir in vanilla.
Pour into prepared pan and bake for 40-50 minutes.
Cool in pan for 5 minutes before cutting into squares. Serve warm.
Caramel Sauce
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan.
Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
Immediately remove from heat and spoon over individual servings of warm cake.
