Tex-Mex Party Nuts

These make a great gift and they are pretty quick to make.  I like to use the Planter Deluxe Pistachio mix that includes cashews and almonds.
Course: Appetizer

Ingredients

  • 1 9.5 to 11.5 oz. can salted mixed nuts
  • 1 Tablespoon butter melted
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground red caynne pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 300°.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix nuts and butter until nuts are coated.
  3.  In a small bowl mix the remaining ingredients except sugar, sprinkle over nuts.  Stir until nuts are completely coated.
  4. Spread in single layer in 15" x 10" x 1" pan.  Bake uncovered for about 10 minutes or until nuts are toasted.
  5. Return to medium bowl.  While nuts are still hot, sprinkle with sugar and toss to coat.
  6. Cool completely, about 1 hour.  Store in airtight container at room temperature up to 3 weeks.
