Scones

These are best with a touch of jam or honey.  Make sure your butter is extremely cold and do not knead the dough more than 5 times.
Servings: 12 scones
Course: Bread

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tablespoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon granulated sugar
  • cup unsalted butter cubed and placed in the refrigerator
  • 1 cup whipping cream

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°.
  2. Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  3. Using a pastry blender or fork, cut in the cold butter until crumbly.
  4. Add whipping cream and stir with a silicone spoon just until moistened.
  5. Place dough on a lightly floured surface and knead it 5 times.
  6. Roll dough out into ½" thickness and using a round cutter, cut 12 scones.
  7. Place on a silicone mat on a baking sheet and bake at 375° for 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
