Homemade Chocolate Truffles

Homemade Chocolate Truffles

These are wonderfully rich and super easy to make!

Ingredients
  

  • 8 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 8 oz. bittersweet chocolate chips
  • 1 14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 pkg. vanilla chocolate chips
  • 4 teaspoons shortening

Instructions
 

  • Set a heatproof glass bowl over a saucepan of gently boiling water.            
  • Add the semisweet chocolate chips into the bowl.  Then add the bittersweet chocolate chips.  Let the chips start to soften and melt.
  • Then pour in the sweetened condensed milk and the vanilla.  Stir until the mixture comes together, then remove the bowl from the pan, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it cool to room temperature.
  • Refrigerate the chocolate mixture for 30 minutes.
  • Scoop out by Tablespoonfuls  and place it on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.  
  • Place the pan into the freezer for 20 to 30 minutes, or until very firm.
  • In a small bowl add the semisweet chocolate chips and 2 teaspoons of shortening.  Microwave for one minute or until melted and smooth.
  • Roll half of the truffles in the melted chocolate and place on the parchment covered baking sheet.  Sprinkle candy sprinkles on top of each truffle.
  • In another small bowl, add the vanilla chips and 2 teaspoons of shortening.  Microwave for one minute or until melted and smooth.
  • Roll the other half of the truffles and decorate.
