Treat Tuesday-Homemade Chocolate Truffles

I think enough time has passed from the Christmas Holidays that we can maybe dive back into sweet treats again.  With January almost over, one begins to think of Valentine’s, particularly in the kitchen!  Ok so maybe it is just an excuse to eat chocolate, but if that is the case, I will lobby for Valentine’s Day to be every day!!

These truffles are super easy to make and have a wonderfully rich chocolate center that will have you bypassing any candy heart boxes at the drug store.  Simply start with a bag of semisweet chocolate chips and a bag of bittersweet chocolate chips.

Let them melt and then add a can of sweetened condensed milk.

Toss in a big splash of vanilla and you have a nice chocolatey dough begins to form.

The dough will firm up in the refrigerator and then you simply roll it into balls and freeze while you prepare the outside coating.  I used melted chocolate and vanilla chips.  Dip the balls in the chocolate and then add some sprinkles.

These are much better than chalky candy hearts.
